Mr Souness has riled GB.
Just recently this guy's ego appears to have finally run away with him, as some of his outbursts in the media would indicate.
After our 1 - 0 defeat at Ibrox we were accused of being our normal selves by the man - I believe the adjective used was "dour". In this game I do not believe that this was the case as we gave as good as we got until half time and indeed I believe the half time score could've been 2-2. Then with about 25 minutes to go I seem to notice that Rangers shut up shop and didn't do too much too build on this lead. In fact they had all eleven men in their own penalty box every time we got a corner or a free kick.
I also believe on this subject that Mister Souness should look at the performances of his own team away from home, at Fir Park they don't exactly come to entertain. I also noticed that in away leg v Red Star Belgrade his own formatLon was 5- 4-l. Is this not what he has complained about us doing for 4 years??
It is also interesting to note that it only appears to be us that get criticised by Souness on this subject, why not Hibs, St. Mirren etc who appear to perform the same way.
As has been well covered in the Sunday Mail their was his classic "Hammer Thrower" quote after the St. Johnstone game. This appeared to try to make out that Oleg Kuznetsov was kicked out of the game by the Saints. As millions saw on TV Oleg twisted his knee, it was not a tackle.
Again he is being completely hypocritical, he himself could be a hammer thrower in his day, plus surely he has filled his team with a hammer thrower or two himself, e.g. Spackman, Hurlock, Brown, Souness, N. Cooper (surely all the proof any one needs)
He seems to believe that their is a vendetta in Scottish Football against Rangers, I believe that this is a degree of paranoia on Rangers behalf. this can also be seen that they believed their was someone malLcLous at STV showing the film of souness in the tunnel.
As a footnote on this subject on the day of the Ibrox game a Well fan from Wishaw phoned in to complain about the statements from Souness. It was interesting to hear Derek Johnstone flirt round the subject making sure it was safe to return to the Blue Room, but Chick Young did support the view that Souness did have a blind spot when the Well go to Ibrox. This should probably see Chick banned from talking to Rangers players.
