Motherwell scored after early pressure forced a couple of corners and Craig Anderson’s front post flick wasn’t dealt with by the Hearts defence, allowing Tonner to stab the ball high into the net from a yard out.
With several key players rested, it was never going to be a rou, but FPC were definitely dominant during the first half. The second came after a lightning break from a Hearts corner, the ball thrown out to Craig Anderson, who moved it into midfield. MacKenzie spotted Galloway making up ground on the left channel, and slipped a ball into his path. Galloway cut into the box before finishing neatly with the keeper helpless.
Things were quieter after the break, with fewer scoring opportunities at either end. It took until five minutes from the end for MacKenzie to push up the goals-for column with a deft chip from the right hand side of the box which dropped just under the bar.
An ideal win and clean sheet ahead of teh vital British Cup quarter final tie away to West Brom next week.
