Selection Worries a Blessing

Fraser has gone about his job quietly since he took over last year and while the Corner side struggled with a nine game run without a win, things have turned around both on and off the pitch.

Saturday will see another batch of trialists staking their claim for a regular place in the squad. It’s a far cry for the early stages of the season when FirParkCorner FC struggled to put a team together.

Tomorrow Fraser will have to juggle a squad of 18 but he insists it can only be good for the team even if it makes his job more difficult. He is very aware that whilst the squad has improved since he took over in October there is more work to be done. However, the turn in fortunes bodes well for the highlight of the season, WorldNet in July. It’s not too late for the trialists to join the squad in Leeds for the three day event.

Fraser will look to welcome back striker Gardiner, who has made a major impact since his debut at Clyde in October. Tony O Neill also returns following an ankle injury which saw him miss last week’s bounce match. It’s likely he’ll be partnered in the midfield by Ross Cunningham who returns to the centre of the park following an extended run in the heart of defence. Chris Miller looks to have shaken off a foot injury and is back in the squad. Manager Fraser is the only major doubt facing a late fitness test following an illness.
