The game was barely three minutes old when FirParkCorner FC took the lead. A nice move allowed Dave H to gather the ball in the box and he lashed a rocket in off the far post.
FPC were in charge early on and quickly doubled their lead. Del flicked on a high ball but Jammy’s shot was well saved by the ‘keeper. The ball eventually landed at the feet of Moysie who took a touch before thrashing the ball into the net.
Inter Bears began to come back into things and the midfield was controlled by a Barry Ferguson look-a-like in a ‘Queens 11’ jersey. They squandered a couple of chances before pulling one back, a striker having a tap in when Farmer’s parry fell in front of him.
Changes were made at half time but FPC started the second half strongly. Dave H came close with a long range effort before Scott Mullen was unlucky with a couple of chances.
The Inter Bears were determined not to lose though and in the closing fifteen minutes they stepped up the pressure. A header and shot went narrowly wide before they eventually scored an equaliser. Someone was left unmarked at the back post and headed across goal for an onrushing forward to bundle the ball home.
FPC weren’t to be denied however and scored the winner in controversial fashion. Moysie was taken down in the box and despite the defender appearing to take the ball, a penalty was awarded. Moysie then did the captain’s job of taking the responsibility for the spot kick and sending the ‘keeper the wrong way. This was the last kick of the match and FPC escaped with a narrowly deserved victory.
