The match started fairly evenly with the Corner's boomerang goalkeeper Gordon Miller forced into making a couple of early saves.
Midway through the first half, something extraordinary happened. Joe Lynas latched onto a pass to swing a deep cross in from the byeline. The ball looped over to the far post and was bulleted home by the head of FPC stalwart Philip Speedie to notch his first goal for the club since making his debut in May 2001. The goal sparked scenes of joy throughout the team and the Larkhall fullback couldn't even enact the celebration he had been dreaming about for so long as he found himself under a sea of bodies.

Two more headers in the space of a few minutes, again from unlikely candidates, had the game over as a contest within just over half an hour. Michael Anderson and Ross Galloway were the men who put the match beyond doubt before the less surprising source of Joe Lynas got in on the act to slot home on the stroke of half-time.

The numerical advantage almost reduced the game to farce as FPC began to shift down the gears. They still managed another three goals, including a stunning brace from Dave Hendry and Joe Lynas completing his hat-trick to seal the rout.
