FPC started the game well and went ahead when Jammy ran clear of the Inter defence to slot the ball past the oncoming goalkeeper. It wasn’t long till FPC went two goals up. A corner from Gilly was met with the left foot of Mitch whose sliced effort dipped towards the goal and luckily the goalkeeper punched the ball into his own net. Inter managed to get back into the game when a strike from the right wing caught stand in goalkeeper Jnr unaware and it was 2-1. FPC soon widened the margin when Scott R sent Craig P through on goal for him to chip the goalkeeper from the edge of the box. Craig’s first goal for FPC saw him get closer to his dad’s total! Gilly went close with a free kick - he struck it with power from 35 yards and it smacked the crossbar. FPC were in the driving seat going into the break.
FPC went from strength to strength and it was a shock when Frazzle put the ball in the back of the net to increase the home teams lead. Frazzle danced round a defender, played a delicate one-two with Del and fired home a sweet strike into the bottom corner. Think of the shock when FPC went 5-1 ahead when Dave H rounded the keeper and slotted the ball into an empty net to claim his seventh goal of the season. Inter started to pass the ball about better and scored when a 20 yard curling strike went past Jnr and into the back of the net. A bit of a surprise really because Jnr was nowhere to be seen. This gave Inter confidence and they soon looked to have clawed their way back into the game and scored again, not to the delight of the FPC defence. This seemed to stir FPC on and Gilly added number six to widen the gap. A shot from the wide right caught the Inter keeper off guard and the ball bounced past him and sneaked in at the back post. Gilly celebrated in Robbie Keane style.
Good defensive work from PJM, Joe and Moonie kept the Inter team out and allowed FPC to continue to go forward. Jammy put the result beyond doubt when he added a 7th for the home team. Good work from Dave H and Del set up Jammy to slot the ball past the goalkeeper with ease. Inter added another goal before one of the strangest moments in FPC’s history. Mitch the midget managed to clear a header off the line. Very strange circumstances and knowing Mitch that will be the only good thing he does for the rest of the year. The game finished and FPC were delighted with a much needed confidence boost.
