The game was barely seconds old when a hopeful cross into the home penalty area caused disarray between Farmer and John Barclay and the rest of the team could only watch as the defender steered the ball into his own net. The start could hardly have been worse but it seemed to act as a catalyst for a superb comeback.

Within five minutes, Davie Tonner had bulleted home a superb header for his second goal in two games, before top-scorer Joseph Lynas ran clear of the defence to put the Corner into the lead. Darryn Alexander soon added a third but it was the fourth goal that was the pick of the bunch.

Ross Galloway continued his fine form by turning in another man of the match performance, and his goal was the icing on the cake once again as he squeezed between two defenders before sidestepping a third to coolly slot home to wrap the game up before the break.

Into the second half, Ayr committed a third man forward in an attempt to mount a comeback of their own, but Alan Easton moved back to defence to thwart any chance of that. Indeed, it wasn’t long before Lynas stretched his lead at the top of the scorers chart, leading a counter-attack to slam the ball into the corner of the net with O’Neill and Alexander rushing forward in support.

Alexander was to get his name on the scoresheet again shortly after when some more excellent play by Lynas allowed Alexander to blast the ball past the goalkeeper from twelve yards.

Kaisayr grabbed a consolation with quarter of an hour left to play when a striker finished superbly after some slack defending by John Hendry. The final ten minutes also saw the return of Gordon “Paddy” Miller between the sticks to claim his first ever FirParkCorner clean sheet!

All in all, it was another excellent performance by the lads, and Fraser will be delighted to have hit such a fine vein of form coming into an important spell of the season. They make the journey to Stirling next week to continue their championship challenge, before travelling to Falkirk on Scottish Cup duty the following week and if the performances are kept at this high level, there should be little fear going into either fixture.
