FPC FC made the better start to the game but despite dominating the possession, clear cut chances were thin on the ground. DD probably had the best opportunity of the opening period with a striker firing over from inside the box.

The DD defence was surviving the occasional scramble but when Dave H latched onto a long ball over the top they were left to watch as he thrashed his shot into the far corner.

After some nice play on the edge of the box Frazzle came close but the ‘keeper somehow poked his shot past for a corner. The corner did lead to the second though, Del getting the slimmest touch onto Moysie’s knockdown.

Gilly in action

DD understandably made an aggressive start to the second half but the FPC defence held firm. The closest they came was when PJM had to block a goal bound shot on the line.

The game was effectively killed as a contest when another corner for FPC resulted in a goal. The ball was flicked on to Gilly who was in acres of space and he nearly took the net off with a tremendous volley.

Two late goals by Junior – a header from yet another successful corner and a lovely chip after a great through ball from Kenzie – put a bit of gloss on the scoreline and the defence held out to secure a historic first clean sheet.
