FPC had the first chance of the match when there was a mix up in the PSJ defence but while Del nipped in front of the ‘keeper, he could not quite direct a looping header on target. The game was largely played in the middle of the park but FPC had the territorial advantage.
Chances were few and far between though and Fraz spurned a good opportunity when he blazed over after the strikers had forced a mistake from the PSJ defence.
The goal did eventually come for FPC and it was a lovely breakaway. A PSJ corner was cleared, Fraz played a ball over the defence and Dave raced onto it before chipping the goalie.
This prompted PSJ into a comeback but Junior made a couple of good saves to ensure a half time lead for the home side.
Changes were made at half time, including a switch of ‘keeper for FPC. The changes took some time to settle although FPC did double their lead early on. A corner pinged around the six yard box for a while before eventually being bundled home by Scott Mullen.
PSJ hit back immediately when a midfielder was able to run from deep to slot past PJM. The visitors were enjoying their best spell of the match and levelled the scores from a scrambled corner.
FPC began to click again and Junior hit the post twice within the space of a minute. The third time was to prove lucky for Junior after Barclay Senior flicked the ball past the goalie, his boy had the easy task of heading into an empty net.
The game was put beyond doubt in the last minute when Dave raced clear and thumped the ball high into the net.
So, a convincing win for the team and for the first time ever, FPC has a positive goal difference in the league and are top of the table. Well done everyone!
