The first half was an evenly fought affair with both teams making chances. FPC had a couple of new players appearing and at times the co-ordination between newly introduced team-mates was not great. Despite this, FPC took the lead when Junior found space at a free kick and headed home.
OL came back into things and when Gilly made a rash challenge on the greasy surface they won a penalty. Farmer got a hand to the ball but it squirmed into the bottom corner. Gilly almost regained the lead for FPC but some frantic OL defending ensured the half finished 1-1.
FPC made the brighter start to the second half and went 2-1 up with a Dave Hendry penalty after Del had been brought down on the edge of the box. OL were playing an offside trap which FPC had came close to breeching on a number of occasions before Moonie eventually raced clear to make the score 3-1.
The game was now being played in lovely sunshine which was a pleasant change to the torrential rain which thudded down during the first half. With fifteen minutes to go OL pulled themselves back into the game when a striker prodded home a rebound from close range.
OL piled on the pressure and scored an equaliser to level the game. The FPC defence horribly misjudged a free kick and OL players were queuing up at the back post to knock it home.
The game was not dead however and still had two dramatic turns left. First FPC regained the lead when Kenzie curled a superb free kick in off the post but OL had the last laugh with a late equaliser. Junior appeared to have saved the day with a great tackle but the ball rebounded into the path of an OL striker who beat Farmer at the second attempt.
Overall a draw was a fair result and both teams would have been happy with their efforts in the first eight goal thriller of the day.
