The game started fairly evenly, with chances at both ends, although the Corner keeper was rarely called into action. The closest to a goal in the opening period was when a well-flighted from cross Michael Anderson caused disarray in the penalty area before being scrambled to safety.
The confidence gained just from being level at half time showed after the interval as Fraser's side came out with all guns blazing. Ross Galloway went close with a fierce drive before Joseph Lynas was sent through on the goalkeeper. The big stopper did well to force his initial effort wide, but the nippy striker did well to give the Corner the lead from a tight angle.
The FPC bench was still celebrating the goal when a hopeful ball was launched into the home box. As the ball sailed across, the referee blew his whistle to award Hearts a penalty as Fraser Lang was adjudged to have pushed a striker in the six yard box. However, the home side felt justice was done as the resultant kick was blazed high over the crossbar.
And the penalty sails over the bar...
From then on, it was one way traffic, with Davie Tonner forcing a great reaction save from a long range effort. Ross Galloway also spurned a great chance when one-on-one with the 'keeper, but the second goal eventually came when Drew Cunningham neatly controlled the ball in the box, turned inside and guided the ball into the net, much to the delight of the gathered crowd.
Goal number three was the pick of the bunch. Michael Anderson capped off a brilliant individual display by curling a wonderful right-footed effort into the top of the net from just inside the eighteen yard box. It could well have been four as Lynas was fouled by the last man but stumbled on to prod the ball into the arms of the goalkeeper rather than take to the ground for a penalty kick but the victory was sweet nonetheless.
The Corner remain top of the league but with Real Maroon's two games in hand, they are still in the driving seat. Assuming FPC win their last match, the Jambos dropping just a single point from their three matches means the title will be decided on goal difference. Tense stuff indeed, but the Motherwell lads are simply savouring the success of their first win over their Hearts rivals in five years of trying.
