The game started evenly, though neither side really created any clear-cut chances, with Ross Clark coming close for the home side on two occasions. Perhaps slightly against the run of play, the visitors took the lead as a hopeful cross caused confusion in the penalty area and rebounded off the crossbar for a striker to nod the ball home.

The second goal, just before the interval, also came from a crossed ball. Graeme Farmer in the FPC goal needlessly gave away a corner when the ball hit an awkward bobble as he attempted to control it. From the resulting set-piece, an attacker leapt to glance a header into the corner of the net.

Into the second half, the Corner battled back, and were unlucky when the referee adjudged the ball had not crossed the line after a goalmouth scramble. Joe Lynas was also unlucky as he rounded the goalkeeper just to find the angle too tight for a finish. As the Motherwell side began to commit men forward, the game was killed off on the break, with Farmer in the home goal left with no chance with a looping finish into the corner of the net.

The Corner now find themselves finishing runners-up in the league for the second season in succession and the mood in the camp is at an all-time low. They are travelling south next weekend to take part in the Merseyside Supporters Tournament in order to help raise money for a children's charity in the Liverpool area. Hopefully the break will give the team the lift they need, as well as raise money for a good cause.
