Fir Park Corner v Braes Bairns – Preview

Last updated : 16 September 2005 By Speedie

Following a break of over a month it’s going to be difficult for the Corner to continue their excellent start to the season owing to an absence list which trots on to over eight players. Last weekend’s diabolical performance, which saw the side slum to a draw against Next Hamilton has done little to inspire confidence within the side. However, Joe Lynas did add to his goal tally in what was an otherwise poor match.

Lynas will continue to hold his place upfront and should be joined by Mark Gardiner who will look to rediscover the promise he showed towards the end of last season. The forward line is threadbare with long term absentee Derek Wilson joined by Craig Pettigrew and Scott Mullen on the sidelines. The midfield could see a return to the starting line up for manager Fraser as the side looks to return to a 3-5-2 formation which has served the Corner well earlier in the season. Chris Miller is missing alongside first choice left sided player David Hendry. Michael Anderson and Darryn Alexander both miss out again.

The defence also has a list of names missing for the visit of the Bairns included in that is newly appointed club captain Gavin Hepworth who is enjoying a weekend away in his hometown Doncaster. Ross Clark also misses this crucial match with Malcolm Boyd a doubt after taking a knock last weekend. However, Graeme Ramage returns to the fray.

Last season, saw a 2-2 draw away to Braes Bairns with the Corner leading twice during the match. Nine of the squad who started that day will be available. Falkirk was a happy hunting ground a fortnight ago as FPC beat the Bairns on their way to winning the Scottish Supporters Masters competition.
