Report: Rangers 3 'Well 0

At the kick off we adopted a 4-3-3 formation but within the first few minutes it became clear that Elliott and McFadden would be leaving Lehmann on his own when the opposition had the ball.

We held them for almost fifteen minutes until Latapy swivelled in the edge of the box and sent a fierce left footed shot inside the post. The defence looked unsure for the next half hour and the few hundred 'Well fans were of the view that if we reached the break only one down then hope remained.

We almost equalised during a stramash in their box. A free kick led to us hitting the post and forcing Klos to make three desperate blocks before the ball was cleared.

A few minutes before the whistle we tried a quick free kick deep inside our own half. Lasley found the ball at his feet but under pressure he attempted a weak pass back and Flo was presented with an easy chance.

Any hope of a second half revival disappeared with thirty five minutes to go when Deloumeaux was dismissed for what referee Young decided was a second bookable offence. It was 'backs to the goal line' thereafter and only a series of great saves by Stevie Woods kept the score down.

The introduction of Ferrere and Pearson for McFadden and Elliott made no difference to the incessant pressure by the Rangers' attack.

We conceded the third (a rocket from Konterman) before the end.

As Eric Black said after the match - "We blank this game from our memories now and concentrate on the next game". Here here.
