Dubordeau made the start and had to pick the ball from his net on four ocassions. Maybe the financial restrictions at the club will mean that we cannot sign him for next season! He did make a couple of great saves but over the part he still wasn't convincing.
Deloumeaux (the only 'Well man who deserved the label 'footballer'), filled Scott Leitch's midfield position and started in front of a back four. With only McFadden and Elliott up front the dedicated one hundred and thirty travelling fans expected few scoring chances and they were not mistaken.
There were a couple of bookings in the first half (Hilland for a scythe on Faddy and Corrigan on O'Connor) but that did not mean that the game was full of action. What little excitement there was tended to be in front of our goal and it came as little surprise to see Townsley popping up in the box to send a left footed shot across the face of Dubordeau and into his right hand corner.
We almost scored an equaliser (our only chance of the game) just before the break. Ferrere turned on a sixpence and tried a shot but Caig saved well.
There was still time before the half time whistle for our defence to gift another goal to our hosts. Hammell and his goalie had a misunderstanding on the penalty spot and the ball fell to Arpinan who heeled into the net.
Any thoughts of a second half revival were soon dispelled as the game progressed. O'Connor was presented with a couple of one on one chances and duly dispatched the ball past Dubordeau.
Eric Black (hands in his pockets for most of the game) had to suffer as his team crumbled in front of his eyes. Karl Ready had to come off and Bernhard replaced him. Later Fagan came on for Elliott.
