Report: 'Well 0 Dundee United 0

The first point of the season in a game of two halves at Fir Park. We had the first half and played well while the second forty five saw very few attempts on goal from either side.

We got a boost before the kick off from the appearance of Leitch. He managed an hour in his first game for months and the midfield looked poor without him.

Tarrant also started and immediately became the 'target man'. His height and physical presence caused the United defence a few problems and with a few games under his belt he could be a good partner for Ned Kelly.

Many handbags at close quarters!

The more senior striker chased all day but rarely got the ball in a dangerous potition. He almost connected with a couple of the many crosses which came in from the right wing in the first half. Twaddle and Corrigan made several great runs in that area and delivered the ball well.

The most exciting incident of the first half came just before the half time whistle when Tarrant's fierce challenge provoked a massing of players and officials - many handbags at close quarters and a couple of bookings were the result.

The second half lost its way early on. Neither team were able to string any passes together and suddenly the game was up for grabs. No one took control of the game and it was a disappointment. Leitch was replaced by Harvey on the hour and two further substitutions followed. The team had lost its shape. Elliott shared the striking role but he looked out of sorts. No chances. Utd looked the more dangerous team towards the end and a one effort even rebounded from the post.

At least we have our first point. Its going to be another long season!
