The long, slow, desperate start to the season continues. Not only do we give the points to the Dons but we suffer a couple of bad injuries which will hamper us in the next few games.
There will have to be some soul searching in the midfield and defensive areas of the team. Nine goals conceded in two away games cannot be dismissed lightly. Let's hope that Billy's rumoured new signings fix the leaks.
Both Twaddle and Strong received bad injuries in the second half. Bill Davies said after the game, "Strong has medial ligament damage and could be out for five or six weeks and Twaddle has a heavily swollen anke which could be fractured." Best wishes to both guys.
We started the game poorly. All the early pressure came from the Dons though we nearly sneaked one in fifteen minutes when Kelly took a cross from Dow on his chest. His volley came off the inside of the post.
Five minutes later lost the first of the six goal game. A volley from Thornley from outside the box was sent into the net off of Leitch's head. It came as no surprise to the couple of hundred fans who made the trip north.
But the goal seemed to settle us down. Passes started to flow and soon Karl Ready found himself on the scoresheet. A floated corner from Dow was met by the defender on the six yard line and the header went in at the corner.
There was even better news on the half hour mark. The goal of the game came as a free kick just outside the box was touched to Dow who floated it over the wall. Kelly anticipated the move and was there to rattle it home. We were a goal ahead.
In typical 'Well fashion we then threw the lead away. A crazy mistake from hero Ready gave an easy goal to Winters.
The break came and though the Dons were the better team at least the score was level. But there then followed a second half collapse.
We had a couple of half chances and no more. Goals from Mackie and Zerouali sealed the game . If the poor performance was not enough, we then saw both Strong and Twaddle stretchered off.
We'll suffer without them. And so will the support. We all know that there have been only five games from a campaign of thirty eight but there are not too many signs of hope. We have to keep the heid and resist the inevitable calls of panic.
Bring on Livi next week - the are due for a fall - I hope!
