Both teams were unchanged and following a silence making Remembrance Day , we kicked off facing the 500 Dundee supporters in the South Stand. Those travelling fans had the best view of the goalmouth action in the first half as Motherwell pounded Douglas' goal.
In the opening thirty minutes we had a bundle of half chances. Lasley, Law, Murphy and Higdon all came close but it seemed only a matter of time before we would earn a deserved opener. It was not to be. In a rare appearance at the other end of the park Dundee seemed to have their attack blunted but the ball escaped a ruck in the 'D' and fell to Riley on the left side of the box. To his credit he finished well and Randolph was beaten.
You don't want to know what happened next...
We equalised with the last action of the half when Ojamaa's effort came of Douglas to give Higdon a simple tap in. The home crowd hoped that the psychological boost from that goal would swing the game in our favour.
The second half was not as one-sided as the first although it was clear that Dundee were set up for defence. Motherwell persisted with a slow, deliberate, passing build up with long balls to target man Higdon always an option but there was to be no second home win. Hammell was replaced by Fancis-Angol before the hour and with ten minutes remaining Humphrey and Murphy made way for Daley and McHugh as McCall searched for a winner.
Randolph had to react quickly when a deflection tested his reactions and Higdon had the ball in the net only to see the assistant's flag raised. Ojamaa's curling effort in added time came close but the fact is that our inability to convert more than one of the many, many chances cost us two points. As a result we've slipped to seventh place.
