Lasley's forced absence gave Kallum Higginbotham a chance to get a debut in the starting eleven and he occupied the wide left position. He earned a hearty ovation when he came off after 68 minutes. Carswell held on to the left midfield position and his hard working performance demonstrated that his inclusion is fully merited.
The visitors probably looked the more dangerous in the first 15 minutes. They were keen to go forward and kept Randolph involved more than we would have liked. At the same time we gave notice that we had the ambition to with a couple of early shots. We had a break following an error from Hateley that led to a fierce swerving shot from Doran. Randolph parried and Shinnie pounced but he was judged to be offside.
Around the half hour we took control. Hateley's free kick gave rise to a good attempt that shaved the post but the opener was not long delayed. Ojamaa, who proved to be a trouble to the Inverness defence all afternoon, bore into the left side of the box and we were delighted to see his poor shot fall to Higdon at the far post for an easy tap in.
From then on we were untroubled. Bothe Higginbotham and Ojamaa had good chances as the break drew near.
The second was a strange affair. Law was able to lift the ball over Esson and the ball fell kindly. After a few attempts the ball ended in the net. Two up and cruising.
The best goal was the last of the match and it came ten minutes into the second period. Carswell's high header set Higdon up for a hot from the edge of the box. The ball hung in the air and our man steadied himself for the shot. The ball seemed to take an age to fall but the left footed strike was perfect and it whizzed into the net. Three up and the game was over.
Cummins was given twenty minutes when Ramsden suffered an injury to his hand and later McHugh and Francis-Angol had their chance replacing Ojamaa and Higginbotham.
McCall expressed his delight afterwards and noted the clean sheet and the the fact that we have averaged 3 goals for the last 6 home league games. Another 3 on Tuesday will do nicely!
