Motherwell Lose at Ibrox

Last updated : 26 December 2007 By Firparkcorner

We were a goal down at half time after a typical piece of Ibrox bad luck when the officials arrived at the wrong decision to deny us a corner. They scored a minute later.

Lined up for a Motherwell attack

For most of the first period we held our own but created only one good chance. McCormack's low flying header bounced off of McGregor's knees following a long series of passes which stared in our own box.

Our defence was under some pressure as the first half ended. Smith had to produce a fine one handed save from Burke and from the resulting corner we escaped when the ball came off the inside of the bar and bounced on the goal line. Craigan then had to hook one off the line before Cousin's low drive from the edge of the box beat Smith at his left hand corner.

We had a storming start to the second half. For the first twenty minutes we poured attack after attack on the Broomloan end and the Motherwell fans had plenty to to cheer.

McCormack had several charges into the box from the right corner but either failed with the cut back or found McGregor's legs blocking his shot. Clarkson had a header just over the top after another McCormack inspired move.

Our deserved equaliser came in sixty four minutes and it came after a corner. It fell to Quinn and he celebrated his header in style.

Rangers turned the tide within a few minutes and they were back in front when a pacey corner was glance on to the head of Porter then into the net.

Were unable to stage a second recovery though McCormack's free kick gave us a thrill as it shaved the bar. Rangers killed the game and scored a third with the last kick of the ball.

We're back at Fir Park on Saturday and we still hold a three point lead over Dundee United. It looks like a six pointer to come!
