Carswell got a start in midfield due to the absence of Ojamaa and McFadden was moved into a central role to support Higdon. County kicked off and faced the Cooper end as they sought to maintain hopes of joining us in the Europa League but their hopes were soon blunted when Humphrey's first half efforts won the game for the Mighty 'Well.

In 8 minutes the right winger made one of his trademark runs to the dead ball line, leaving Munro trailing. His delivery to McFadden was perfect and the ball was duly side footed into the net.
The visitors stuck to their attacking game plan but they faced a defence in top form and Randolph was rarely troubled. The greatest threat came from a Brittain free kick from 20 yards but he was well off target. Hateley had tried his luck from 25 yards moments earlier but he too was wide of the mark.
It seemed that we would take the one goal advantage to the break but as County pressed Humphrey produced an exceptional goal. He latched on to the ball and flew down the wing for 50 yards before a swerve into the box gave him a chance to score. He fired low and beat Fraser at the near post to finish the goal scoring for the afternoon.
Europe beckons
County had the better of the second half but they met stiff resistance. Carswell's partnership with Lasley is developing well and it is a pairing that we'll no doubt see more of next season. One major concer was an injury that forced Brittain to be carried from the field. It looked like a badly twisted knee and our good wishes for a speedy recovery are with him.
As the game drew to a close the manager substututed Higdon, Law and later Randolph and the crowd rose as one to applaud their contributions to a terrific season.
The final whistle prompted a mini invasion but order soon prevailed and the player and their many toddlers took to the field. The supporters and players exchanged their thanks and we are left to ponder what team we'll see next season.
