Motherwell enjoyed the first win of the season when they beat Annan Athletic 3-1 in their first visit to Galabank. Two from Moult and a fine opener from Johnson sealed the result.
Mark McGhee made three changes to last week's team. He introduced a 24 year old Welsh midfielder, Lee Lucas, on a trial basis and he joined Lasley as the captain is now free of suspension. Moult made a surprise appearance given that he is shortly to have groin surgery but an injury to McDonald in training forced the change.

Lasley, wearing the white away strip, kicked off and soon the pattern of play was established. Lucas came close to the opener before Johnson made the best of a Hammell shy to the dead ball line. The winger turned and shot beyond Currie to settle any early nerves. Unfortunately Lucas had to be replaced after half an hour and Cadden joined proceedings.
Annan had their first attempt on target just before the break and Omar's header sent the happy home side into the dressing room at 1-1.
We resumed pressure on the Annan goal and Moult restored the lead on the hour. Johnson delivered to give an easy finish from close range. Moult underlined his importance to the team a minute later when he beat his marker and ran in on goal to finish in style. We will miss him badly during his recuperation from the upcoming operation.
Thomas and Mackin were afforded a chance to show their wares when they replaced Ainsworth and Johnson but there was to be no more scoring before the game ended.
