Motherwell 2 Hibernian 2
This was a vital game for both sides, with Motherwell looking to hold on to a chance of making the top six and Hibs looking to push for a UEFA Cup place from third place in the table.
Motherwell almost made the best possible start to the game when a Phil O'Donnell lay-off set up Richie Foran, but the Irishman's shot was well saved at full length by Hibs keeper Zbigniew Malkowski.
The game was a bit of a midfield stalemate with both sides having five players in there and causing a bit of congestion.
After Motherwell's Scott McDonald had a goal disallowed for a tight offside decision, 'Well did take the lead after 40 minutes. McDonald broke the shackles of Gary Caldwell in midfield and headed for the box, where his square ball found O'Donnell with time to side-foot a right-foot shot past the unguarded keeper from about eight yards.
Hibs' closest effort of the first half came when Stephen Craigan scooped a Kevin Thomson cross high into the air, but Colin Meldrum was able to gather under the crossbar.
The start to the second half was all action with McDonald and O'Donnell having shots blocked in the first minute and Hibs equalising after three. Chris Killen flicked the ball on to Ivan Sproule, who had time to look up and pick out Killen to bundle the ball home at the back post.
After another sterile piece of play, Hibs took the lead after 78 minutes with Killen once again involved. This time he released Stephen Glass, who outpaced Paul Quinn to drill a low shot across Meldrum.
Motherwell snatched a well-deserved point deep into stoppage time. A Steven Hammell corner was cleared to the edge of the box and Brian Kerr's shot was deflected into the path of Craigan, who hammered the ball past the keeper.
