Motherwell remain bottom of the SPL table after crashing to their tenth successive defeat at Hibernian.
To add to manager Terry Butcher’s woes, Motherwell also ended the game with just eight men as they lost their discipline in the second half.
It had all looked rosy for Well in the opening stages of the second half as they took the lead in the 47th minute when Steven Ferguson netted.
However, Mixu Paatelainen and Tom McManus headed two goals in five minutes to put the Edinburgh side into the lead after Daniel Sengewald had been sent off in the 56th minute for a late challenge on John O'Neil.
Motherwell lost their cool completely in the closing stages. Stephen Pearson was sent off after hitting out at Hibs substitute Grant Brebner who was also dismissed for appearing to retaliate.
Well’s David Partridge was sent off for his part in the same incident.
Motherwell’s afternoon of torment was complete in stoppage time as O'Neil netted Hibs’ third from the penalty spot.
He was given the chance to seal the three points for the home side after being brought down by Motherwell’s keeper Francois Dubourdeau.
The win lifts Hibs up to fifth as they sealed their eighth win of the campaign while Motherwell are now four points adrift at the foot of the table
