Dundee struggled to break down a stubborn Motherwell team and despite dominating much of the game, had to settle for a share of the points.

The games first effort on target came after 13 minutes when Nacho Novo's right-foot shot was turned around the post by Francois Dubourdeau.

With 20 minutes played, Julian Speroni did well to save James McFadden's low shot and the visitors then took the lead with 27 minutes played.

The ball broke to Steven Ferguson inside the box and his shot was only parried by Speroni and the rebound fell nicely for Dirk Lehman who sidefooted home from three yards.

Dundee drew level with 35 minutes gone when Dave Mackay's cross from the right reached Juan Sara ten yards out and with his back to goal he took a touch before turning and firing low into the corner of the net.

Three minutes after the interval Fabian Caballero saw his right-foot shot well saved by Dubourdeau.

Ten minutes later, Caballero went close again when he headed Novo's cross just past the upright.

With a quarter of an hour to go, a Dundee attack saw the ball land at Garry BradyÂ’s feet 12 yards out, but the midfielder took too long to get his shot in and when he did, Scott Leitch got back to clear.

Sara then had a header tipped over the crossbar as the home team went in search of a winning goal.

Four minutes from time, Lee Wilkie headed a Jonay Santos Hernandez corner goalwards, but again the home team were denied by Dubourdeau in the visitors goal and the game ended all square.
