Mike's Moan: Who The Hell Is Charlie Christie?

Every time they come to Motherwell they sit back, soak up pressure and then hit us on the break. Well it's time for a change and time to send the hideous highlanders back up the road with nothing.

Inverness have over-achieved for the past few seasons basing their success on having ten men behind the ball and hitting teams on the break. It is no coincidence that their home record is shocking, purely because they are expected to try and win games at home and they simply do not have the players for the job. There team, in my eyes, is shocking, and full of journey men and rejects who could not get a game anywhere else.

Take Darren Dodds for example, shocking with Hibs, shocking with St Johnstone, but suddenly good with ICT - I don't think so. It's their style of play which makes him look good, as any big defender can look commanding when he has seven or eight team mates surrounding him trying to do his job for him. Craig Dargo is another who has over performed, but I have to admit that he did play well last season. However, I'm willing to bet he is a one hit wonder and will score fewer goals this season than an Aberdeen striker.

Motherwell simply have better players, a better style of play and far more attacking options. So why the hell can we never beat these northern chumps at Fir Park? Even when we are on a great run, scoring lots of goals, keeping clean sheets, ICT come to town and we are up against a brick wall with no bloody sledge hammer! The reason for this? Don't be friggin stupid, there are no reasons for this and on Saturday our luck must change. If any team was due to beat another team the Motherwell are due a win against ICT at Fir Park, will it happen? It better!

Saturday is another huge game in the context of Motherwell's season, as another win will banish any thoughts of our disastrous start. We are beginning to get some players back, which should greatly help the shape of the team. Brian McLean can come back at centre half and Reynolds can move to left back allowing Jim Paterson to play in his natural position in left midfield. You then move Foran to the right and throw Kevin McBride out the window and slam it firmly shut. This team has a much better balance and with Elliot and Macdonald up front it offers goals.

Hopefully Elliot can rough up their dodgy centre halves, leaving the coast clear for Macdonald to bag a couple of goals.
