Hibs at home, another game without McFadden, but who needed him? ‘Well at home won for the fourth time. The game was a well-fought one. Motherwell came out winners by two goals to one. The goals came from 17 year old David Clarkson and young Shaun Fagan. Motherwell lost captain Scott Leitch after only seven minutes but stand-in skipper Derek Adams controlled the midfield for the rest of the game. Hibs did pull a goal back from Garry O'Connor but that wasn’t enough.
Next for ’Well was a game everyone was looking forward to, Celtic at Fir Park, 15th February. Due to the frost that day and the early kick off referee Dougie McDonald called the game off. There is still no date for the rearranged fixture.
On the Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday after the postponement, the ground staff worked hard and got the the pitch ready for the Dunfermline game. The game was won by two goals to nil again, with the Motherwell goals coming from Stephen Pearson and a first club goal from Steven Craig. Dunfermline pulled a goal back from Stevie Crawford but some great saves from Dubourdeau saved the three points as we moved further away from Dundee United.
Then Saturday, 22/2, Motherwell travelled to face Clyde in the Scottish Cup. ‘Well fans were really out in numbers, and ready to cheer on the team. Even at ten past three they were still queuing outside to get in. The game got underway with McFadden back in the Motherwell squad. The game was won by McFadden with the two goals coming from him earning us a place in the Scottish Cup Quarter finals.
McFadden played well and looked a changed player with his attitude as he didn't get booked or even argue once with referee Kenny Clark. Motherwell go through, winning by two goals to nil. All ‘Well fans will now be watching the news on Monday to see the draw for the next round.
