The Mighty ‘Well have not been at there best in the past few games this season. Since I last reported we have played Dunfermline away which must have been one of the worst games I have every paid to watch. It wasn't the greatest of matches and really there isn't much to say apart from noting that Lee Bullen got the goal for Dunfermline on the 75th minute. The best part of the trip was probarly the bus back and even then that wasn't the greatest.
Then we had two home games against Dundee and Aberdeen. These were matches which, at the start of the season, we were all expecting to win. Our first, against Dundee, would have let us climb into the top six with a win, but no, ‘Well mucked up and we let Dundee leave with a point. Enough to keep them above us and in the top six. Goals in this game came from Steve Lovell of Dundee and Motherwell got their goal through a James McFadden header.
Then another home game against or good old pals Aberdeen. The Dons had travelled down in their numbers filling nearly all the bottom section. This game was a really scrappy affair which we in the end lost thanks to our old pal Deloumeaux. We took the lead when Kevin Toner gave Well a penalty (one of the worst decisions I’ve seen ) when Lasley was fairly tacked by Phil McGuire. James McFadden stepped up and scored the goal and that was the ‘Well one up.
Into the second half and Aberdeen scored through Derek Young. The Dons fans went mental. As the end of the game approached Aberdeen attacked and crossed the ball. Deloumeaux volleyed the ball into the ground and past Woods and that was it. Motherwell 1 Aberdeen 2 and the Dons fans left very happy indeed.
But there is a bright side as we face the top team in the league on Saturday without James McFadden. In my view it is a good thing that McFadden is suspended for this game. He is as well serving the ban in a fixture we are not expected to win.
After Ibrox we have our CIS cup tie up at Aberdeen on the Wednesday night. I hope we win and progress through to the next round.
On the following Saturday we have a home game against Livi which could turn out to be cracker and with any luck we will see a home win. Thereafter we make our first visit to Firhill to face Partick. I think it will be a scrappy game as was the first meeting of the season at Fir Park.
Then we have two home games one is our Killie pals - we beat them 3-0 way back at the start of the season. So hopefully over the next month or so we can pick up some key points and move up the table.
I hope enjoyed reading this. I’ll be back after the Gers game hopefully with some good news of a ‘Well victory.
If you have any questions you would like to add just post them on the message board and I will be happy to answer them for you.
