Can we gain enough wins from teams in the bottom half of the league to survive or will our only victories come against the usual easy touches such as Celtic and Rangers.
We can get the second half of the season off to a great start by inflicting another defeat on Kilmarnock at Rugby Park this Wednesday. The cup win was by all accounts workmanlike but just deserved. We will need the same application and work rate to ensure we add to our points tally and continue to keep the pressure on those around us at the foot of the table.
It’s well documented that we will be without McFadden and also Hammell. We should be used to playing without Faddy now and hopefully it will not harm us too much. Clarkson seems to be another find who can do a job up front and as Lehmann is out injured I would expect new signing Steven Craig to partner him. I am not sure if Tony Vaughan has signed or not but if so, regardless if he plays against Kilmarnock, he is a decent signing given the limitations we have. We need experience at the back and Vaughan can provide that in abundance.
Even considering our injury and suspension problems confidence should be at a high and with fringe players and new signings fighting for a regular place in the starting eleven the signs are good that we can snatch another win. I’ll go for another tight 1-0 win to Motherwell.
