Last Saturday’s defeat condemned us once again to the task of propping up the table. By all accounts we got exactly what we deserved from the game after a dire performance against a side reduced to 10 men for the majority of the game.
Our performances against bottom half of the table teams this season has been nothing short of woeful. We have proved we have the ability to beat the two best sides in the division but questions must be asked about our attitude when it comes to taking on fellow relegation candidates. Wins against the Old Firm has never guaranteed any team will be safe from relegation in the past and it certainly is no different this season. For all except the Celtic and Rangers the main target is 3rd in the league. This is an entirely achievable target even if you go through a season without even coming close to beating the big two.
Its another must win game this Saturday against a side that is still pushing for that 3rd Place even though they had a dreadful start to the campaign. They can score goals but equally they can leak them at the other end. We seem to be dreadful up front at the moment although we are not conceding like we were earlier in the season. Lets hope we are not entering into another depressing run of defeats like we did after the Celtic victory. If we do there will be no coming back from it and 12th place will be ours for keeps.
A point is the minimum we require but after the last couple of performances it is hard to see us achieving even that.
