There is not a lot to say about our prospects against Celtic. Only the most widely optimistic of us will predict anything more than a defeat but that is the same scenario for all teams currently competing against the Old Firm. But that is not the attitude the team should take. At one point during every season we will have a little bit of joy over Celtic and Rangers, either snatching a point or running them very close.
It will take a very good performance from Motherwell for us to have any chance but surprise results can happen in football. Celtic will drop points to someone eventually, they almost did against Thistle a couple of weeks ago and I don’t think FC Basle are that good but they are in The Champions League and Celtic ain’t!
I’ve got a feeling our new German centre back may feature at some point during the game, let’s hope he has an inspired debut against Larsson and let’s also hope that McFadden erases the memory of his miss last week by playing a stormer. In fact the whole team will have to play to full potential to get anything from the game and we can be sure that TB will ensure that they try and take the game to Celtic. It would be a disaster if we sit back trying to defend for 90 minutes.
A famous win on my birthday then? Unfortunately can’t envisage anything but a defeat but I do think we will score and cause them a few problems during the game. They will probably get the regulation penalty and beat us 1-3 on the night.
Motherwell 1- 3 Celtic
