Terry gets behind the campaign
Following the appointment of an administrator to run the clubs affairs, a meeting was held at Fir Park on Thursday evening between the current Directors and a representative group of supporters where the 'Well Worth Saving campaign was launched.
Terry Butcher, the club manager, said earlier today; "The players need the support of the fans more than ever before. I am appealing for them to turn out and show everyone the great potential Motherwell has as a club. We want as many people as possible to turn out for the game against Kilmarnock and the home game against Dundee in two weeks time."
Martin Rose, president of the Scottish Federation of Football Supporters' Clubs and a Motherwell fan, attended the meeting. He said; "We all have to get behind the team now. It's so important to show that we have a team we want to support next season."
John Boyle, chairman of Motherwell Football Club, said; "Since we took the deeply regrettable step of putting the club into interim administration, there has been a tremendous reaction from everyone who cares about the club."
"The players need the support of the fans more than any other time in my stewardship"
John Swinburne, club historian and director, said "Everyone needs to rally round the club. We will survive this but we have got to get people to come and support the club to show any potential buyer that this is a great club with a great support.
"The directors of the club are very keen on the idea of supporting a community-based bid to take over the club. That would mean handing Motherwell Football Club back to the local community in some form."
As a gesture of support for the club, let's all rally round and show the doubters that we mean business by turning out in numbers for the remaining fixtures of this season.
Our short term objective is to get "Bums on Seats" for the last game of the season at Fir Park against Dundee on Sunday 12th May.
Hope to see you there.
