The statement reads :-
“The Board of Directors and the Administrator can reassure fans that the Club is now on a sound financial footing as a result of the measures taken in May. Those difficult decisions were necessary to ensure the survival of the Club and we now have the financial stability to meet the challenges of the Season. There has been speculation in the press that the Club is actively attempting to sell players because of financial pressure. This suggestion is completely untrue. Everyone involved in the running of the Club has every faith in Terry Butcher and his squad and all our efforts are focused on helping the team deliver the results and performances we know they can produce”.
The statement is from Stuart Roberston, Managing Director of Motherwell FC. Stuart has close links with John Boyle and is assisting in the running of the club during these troubled times.
There’s no doubt that the media have been using the recent dip in form to have a go at the club. Hugh Keevins has frequently used the phrase ‘Motherwell in freefall’ in the last couple of weeks. He also stated after the Thistle game that John Boyle was in Rumania (in fact he attended the match at Firhill!).
But the fact remains that we are still in interim administration and that it seems unlikely that a new owner will emerge. So it begins to look more likely that we will move forward with our current owner.
In any event, to get the fans’ voice into the club everyone with the interest of the Mighty ‘Well at heart is encouraged to join the Supporters’ Trust.
