U21s: 'Well 5 Dundee 3

The ‘Well took an early lead when some nice play allowed Crawley to cross from the left and Dirk Lehmann beat Langfield with a diving header. We only held the lead for a couple of minutes though as Jason Walker, Dundee’s best player all night, quickly equalised. The ball sat up for him thirty yards out and he launched an incredible volley into the top corner.

We struck back but Langfield denied Lasley and Offiong. The second goal was not long in coming though, Lehmann’s header deflected into the air and the big German scored with a spectacular overhead kick. It was soon 3-1 when Kevin McDonald clipped in a free kick.

Woodsie saves a penalty
Woods was called into action to save a penalty from Linn after Walker had been pulled down by Cowan. After Offiong missed several more clear cut chances, David Clarke showed him how to finish. He robbed a defender midway into the Dundee half, raced back to the box and slammed an excellent shot in at the far post with the outside of his left foot.

4-1 at half time but Dundee came out fighting at the start of the second half. Walker played a nice through ball to Linn who made up for his penalty miss with a bobbling shot which beat Woods. After Walker was brought down for another penalty, Boylan reduced the defecit to one.

Dundee had a couple of half chances to equalise whilst we came close to wrapping it up – Lasley having a shot cleared off the line. Then in the last minute we did put a bit of gloss on the scoreline. Clarke scored a wonderful curling free kick from the right hand side and the game finished 5-3. This was a thoroughly entertaining evening and if it was not for the downright awfulness of Richard Offiong, we could easily have hit double figures. Well played ‘Well!
