The frantic schedule will put a strain on our small squad and we'll need some good fortune to escape unscathed. Following the Aberdeen replay on Tuesday there are games on 15, 21, 26 and 29 December before we face Celtic on January 2.
Three wins and two draws in our last five have pushed us up back up the table, comfortably in the top half. We're just over half way to the split and on course for another good season though the pack is so tightly bunched that unpredictability is the only certainty.
What a trio!
The team created lots of chances, particularly in the first half, and there was a sharpness about our play that suggested a strong belief that Motherwell would win the game. That the players shook off the disappointing loss of the first goal without changing stride was a credit and perseverance paid off in the end.
Lee Hollis deserves a pat on the back for his performances in the last two games. He was faultless for the goals conceded against Ross County and his quick reaction in the last minute of added time ensure that we took three rather than one point from the day. No doubt Randolph will be between the sticks on Tuesday but it's a comfort to know that his back up is more than capable.
Attention now turns to Tuesday and the replay. The game is one that both clubs would love to win, as much for the cash as the glory that comes with a cup run, and with sensible ticket prices and season tickets valid there should be a cracking atmosphere under the floodlights.
