The 'Well Week Ahead

Today's papers speculate on the possible buyers. Up to eight declarations of interest are reported but the only names mentioned so far are Win Jansen and Ian Adams - a Motherwell based butcher and 'Well fan of many years standing. Pat Nevin suggested on BBC radio that it was unlikely that he would be part of any consortium.

The Administrator will make known his decision on the staff cuts on Tuesday. Players will not be training on Monday and some will have concluded their service to the club on Saturday. As Terry Butcher said after the Killie game, "A massive day, a massive day. It's not a day that you really look forward to at all. For some of the players the reality is pretty daunting."

Talk of players withdrawing their services for the last game of the season was quashed by both Greg Strong and Derek Adams at yesterday's post match interviews. The players are aware that their professional reputations are at stake and they are keen to aquire contracts elsewhere if necessary. The performance against Killie (and a similar effort against Dundee) is there best hope of salvation.

The 'Well Worth Saving campaign hit the streets yesterday and has had plenty of exposure in newspapers, radio and television. Ally Maxwell donated his cup winning jersey to the cause in yesterday's Off the Ball and Tam Cowan started the ball rolling with a bid of five hundred pounds. The BBC's Jim Spence has topped that by fifty quid. The money raised is for the campaign.

Moves to investigate the formation of a Supporters Trust are in hand (the fans' liaison group will meet representatives of Supporters Direct on Monday) and there is likely to be a public meeting of fans after Thursday's (2 May) monthly meeting of the Supporters Association at Fir Park - watch this space for details.

On Tuesday 7 May we have the first chance to show our support for the cause at Fir Park when we play a friendly against Chievo. Fans of other clubs will be welcome and gate prices are likely to be set at a level that will encourage a high turnout.

Phew! Looks like another busy week ahead.
