The weekend ahead

The other four teams who are still concerned about relegation are all in action on the Saturday. Aberdeen face Dundee at Pittodrie and while the Dons eased their worries by beating us last week, a home loss would stop them pulling away.

At Tannadice there is a relegation crunch match between United and Livingston. While it would be nice to drag Livingston down, it is crucial that the Arabs don’t get any more points. If they open up a four point gap by winning on Saturday, we will be staring relegation in the face – again. Of course, United blew a two goal lead the last time they were at home to Livy so we shouldn’t write off the chances of the Lothian side.

Our biggest hope at the moment is that Partick Thistle continue their poor form. They are four points ahead of us but are struggling for wins. While our loss against Aberdeen was disappointing, we are still enjoying a reasonable run and Thistle are not out of our sights. They will fancy their chances against a dire Hibs side who have drawn one and lost five of their last six games. That draw was against Dundee United and an away win at Firhill would be a big surprise.

Of course, our interest still extends to the First Division. Falkirk are eight points clear with eight matches to play but have a tricky match at Clyde. St Johnstone have to make the trek to Ross County and dropped points could signal the end of their challenge.

So, no game for us this weekend but it could be a nervous day spent listening to the radio!
