The Final Game Draws Near

A year ago we were at Tynecastle and a large ‘Well support turned out in the spring sunshine to witness an exciting game. There was nothing of significance at stake for either team and the football was free flowing and swept from end to end. We lost by the odd goal in five despite leading at half time. Marc Fitzpatrick made his first team debut in this game. No one would have guessed the vital part he was to play in the CIS semi final against Hearts a matter of months later.

Who can forget the goal fest which brought an end to the season of 2002/3?
Livingston were the visitors to Fir Park and we won the game by a comfortable six goals to two. McFadden scored a wonderful hat trick, Lasley got a couple and Craig also hit the net. Even more remarkable was the fact that we were behind twice in the match. We

Three years ago we had just escaped relegation by a technicality and were still in administration. Fans were grateful that there was still a club to support.


Three years back and we finished the season with a 2-1 win over
Dundee at Fir Park. Terry Butcher was still settling into the hot seat and we were facing up to the fact that the road ahead would depend on our young, home grown talent. Willie Kinniburgh made his debut. The game ended and a double pitch invasion prevented the team from thanking fans for their excellent backing.

What will Sunday bring? For the first time in many years we will be involved in a title decider. There will be a fantastic atmosphere at Fir Park and we should make the best of the occasion. After all, that‘s what being in the top six is all about.
