Looking at the way the players performed against Celtic in the first half on Saturday, it is clear minds were elsewhere. Or at least, we hope they were - it they were fully focussed and still got thrashed in such a pathetic way, we have real problems!
But surely we will perform better now. Mark McGhee hasn't quite staked his reputation on it, but given the song and dance he has made about managing in Europe, he would have a little egg on his face if we are out of the tie by half time.
Our manager - who negotiated a substantial pay rise in the summer - has made it clear that Europe is a priority this season. While he could have been excused if we had drawn Valencia or a club like that, Nancy are beatable and if we are totally out of our depth, he must be questioned. It is time for him to earn his money.
But while the fans will worry about all that on Thursday evening, for now we should look at enjoying the occasion. We have waited 13 years for a trip and we have one which we can make with relative ease. Make the most of it, who knows how long it will be until we have another chance like this.
Safe trip everyone!
