He said that we gave ourselves a great platform to get the game back after the loss of the first goal but we didn’t take the chances. He felt that we played some nice football and given that we hit the post and the bar that we might have been unlucky not to win it.

He noted that we had played worse the last time we visited Dunfermline and had won 3-0! It was a great equaliser though Hamilton felt he had missed the chance from very close in and he was relieved to see it in the net.

Smith was missing because of “a slight groin strain”. He could have played but there was a risk of him aggravating the injury so the safe course of action was to play Meldrum. He complained of the Motherwell fans who he said were giving the keeper a ‘hard time’ and he hoped that they saw his excellent save from Burchill’s header in the second half. He felt the keeper had a good game.
