In August 2008 Mark McGhee gave him a chance to play in European football when he parted company with Wycombe and he became a fixture in Motherwell’s first eleven. He contributed 17 goals this season, ironically the last time he appeared on the goal scoring list was a month ago when he scored a couple at Tynecastle.
He told the Hearts website, "I'm really looking forward to my time here. It's a big club and hopefully I can help bring some silverware to Tynecastle.
There was always a great atmosphere here when I played and I'm looking forward to having the fans on my side for a change!
I am sorry to be leaving Motherwell so soon after (the final) but these things happen in football.
He’ll go with the best wishes of Motherwell fans although we hope his scoring rate drops dramatically. Although the talk of “the big club” is to be expected it is clear that Motherwell cannot compete with the wages paid at Tynecastle. We are used to players leaving for clubs with big cheue books and massive debts and no doubt he’ll not be the last.
