The drive for the formation of the Trust was enhanced as a result of the huge backing evident for the ‘Well Worth Saving campaign. Hundreds of ‘Well fans made it clear that they were prepared to come together and strengthen the links between the club and the local community.
With a membership approaching four hundred the Trust is already one of the largest in Scotland. The legal steps involved in its establishment have been completed and with the election of the new Board the organisation will be able to set up business for real.
Fans are able to join the Trust for ten pounds a year and an application form can be downloaded here. One of the objects of the society is to buy shares in the club and to represent the fans’ views to the club’s owner. Unfortunately little progress can be made on this front while the club remains in interim administration but funds have already been raised with this aim in mind.
John Boyle has indicated that he wishes the club’s future direction to have community involvement and that he sees the establishment of a properly constituted Supporters’ Trust as a valuable contribution.
The meeting is timed for one o’clock and the formal items on the agenda will be completed in time to allow fans to travel to Hampden for the Scotland game. Those not travelling have the option of remaining in the Cooper Suite for the afternoon to watch the game on the large screen.
