No doubt the familiar rhetoric will be rolled out by both managers. This will be an opportunity to stop the rot, a time for big characters to play their part, for defences to be firm and for attackers to take their chances.
Next up - Ross County
Those unfortunate enough to have spent a couple of fruitless hours at Fir Park on Wednesday saw what mark McGhee described as a “diabolical” performance, the worst in his second spell at the club. In August, following a home defeat to St Johnstone he reckoned that we “lacked energy”. And in September after a goalless encounter with Dundee he felt that the season would turn with the return of key players.
If the growing grumbles in the ‘Well support are not to rise as a chorus asking for a change at the top the team will have to deliver a much improved performance on Saturday.
We will play a Ross County side that have not won since August and anything but a win will see us remain in second bottom place. The manager is aware that results against the trio of Inverness, Ross County and next week’s meeting with Dundee will be crucial in determining our prospects for the rest of the season. Let’s hope the players can deliver a 2-0 win.
