Congratulations Keith! After a long playing career in claret and amber captain Lasley has been appointed assistant manager at Motherwell.
The 37 year old has stepped back from his long held midfield role and joined Stephen Robinson in the dugout. He was made captain when Craigan’s spell ended in 2012 and for the last few seasons he has increased his coaching responsibilities at the club while completing his UEFA Pro Licence.
Then and now....
Billy Davies ended Keith’s work as an electrician when he signed him from Gleniffer Thistle in 1999. Since then, excepting a couple of seasons in England, Lasley has seen a trail of managers come and go but they all relied on him in the heart of the team.
He was awarded a testimonial in 2015 for his years’ service, Bolton provided the opposition.
The MFC website quotes Keith, “It’s hard in a short space to cover it to be honest but the main factor is that I’m just thankful to have been around this place for as long as I have – from the first day I walked in here, off a building site in to Motherwell and thinking that I would go on to play however many games, captain the club, play in Europe and play until the age of 37 is beyond my wildest expectations.”
We wish him all the best in his new job.
