Motherwell has appointed Stephen Robinson as manager on deal that runs until May 2018. The club reveaaled their choice on Wednesday evening and he'll face his first game in charge at Fir Park when St Johnstone visit on Saturday.
He first came to us as assistant to the ill-fated Baraclough and then returned in February as first team coach just before McGhee was given his jotters. Cynics will note the convenient timing.
The 42 year old has had two game stretch as interim manager with a win over Kilmarnock and a narow (though one-sided) loss to Aberdeen. He'll be introduced to his home support at the weekend.
The joint boards of the club and the Well Society interviewed a series of candidates on Tuesday and Wednesday a we enter another managerial era.
He takes over a team that has struggles lately and the first test he faces will be to maintain our survival in the top flight. That done he will have earned the right to chart us into season 2017-18.
Good luck Stephen!
