Rangers Preview 14/5/05

The Old Firm are still fighting over the final destination of the league title and we have the chance to upset both apple carts. However, our performances against Rangers this season have been fairly pathetic and without our first choice centre halves (both suspended) we could be up against it. Having said that though, our first choice central defenders have not done that well against Prso and Novo so far – do we have anything to lose from a change? It’s probably not going to get any worse anyway!

An attack from last time
Rangers have had our number in most of the last few games between the sides but nerves do seem to be getting to them. They drew at home to Inverness and lost at home to Dundee United. Rangers also contrived to lose at home to Celtic when a win would have put them in pole position for the title. As it is, they still have a chance but if we can take even a draw on Saturday, it could be the final nail in their coffin.

Presumably the centre of defence will be made up of Kinniburgh and Corrigan. Quinn will return to right back and Fitzpatrick will go to left back. Fagan, Kerr and Leitch will all retain their places in midfield and probably Foran will get the nod on the left. Hamilton and McDonald will have to hold the ball up at the attacking end of the pitch.

Can we do it? Hopefully we’ll turn in a respectable showing but with Rangers needing the win it’s hard to see them not getting it. With goal difference still potentially vital for them, a 3-0 defeat might not be completely embarrassing.
