There was a strange atmosphere inside the stadium. The home support faced their last visit of the season to Ibrox with their club in the despair of administration but once the game was underway both teams settled into the business of the day.
It was pleasing to see how we kept the ball on the deck but it has to be recognised that Rangers stood off us a bit. Still, we looked comfortable and composed and everyone seemed eager for the ball. The pace of the front trio caused discomfort to the defenders and we adopted the unusual (but welcome) tactic of posting the three of them on the halfway line when the opposition had a corner.
We had our chances but in the words of the manager “We made some wrong decisions”. He was pleased with the performance and felt that consecutive clean sheets at Tynecastle and Ibrox represented a good all round team effort.
Our record total of SPL points now stands at 62 and we have one game to play. The manager suggested in his MFC TV interview that the club “might be doing something on pricing for the Dundee United game”.
A bumper crowd is just what we need to give the team a rousing send off. As they set their sights on some sunny beach for a well earned rest we can only hope that McCall is able to keep the team together for the exciting times ahead.
