Of course it should be kept in mind that this isn't the worst season we've ever had. It's just the nature of the beast that when we are good enough to be well clear of relegation, four times out of five we will be playing friendly matches from Christmas onwards. The fact that we are struggling to play any kind of decent football and three of our best players have left or are leaving probably doesn't help either.
But for those hardy souls who travel north we do actually have a chance of picking up some points. We have won on the last three trips to
Inverness have three players suspended - Black, Tokely and Wilson - and we could get a good look at Craig Dargo running at our defence which could be interesting given the rumours surrounding him recently. This is a strange fixture which the home team rarely wins due to their inability to break down the other's determined defence. No doubt we will sit deep as usual and hope they tire themselves out before we try to release Clarkson and McDonald with balls over the top. Their defence obviously has a massive physical advantage over our strikers but this is a match where the long ball - if they are good passes played into the right areas - can prove very effective.
While neither side will want to lose it is always hard to imagine the players going into this game with the same intensity as they might do. It would be easy for them to settle for whatever score keeps the pride of both sides intact though and a 1-1 draw probably wouldn't surprise anyone.
