Preview: Hamilton (h)

Despite taking a mere four points from the opening 24, a record which is undeniably dismal, we have probably played better than that suggests. It does not take a huge leap of imagination to have seen us taking a draw from Hearts, beating United and drawing with the Dons. Even a point at Ibrox wasn't that far away - only Celtic have really given us a doing so far.

However, the theory that we are playing better than results suggest applies only until we start playing the 'weaker' teams. That run starts in the league next Saturday but before then we have a crucial CIS Cup tie against Hamilton at Fir Park. The Accies have played quite well in their games and have won their fair share - they will be on a high and will more than fancy their chances of what will still be viewed as an upset.

Presumably we will keep our attacking 4-3-3 formation although McGarry, Darren Smith and Jamie Murphy may all feel they are due a run out from the start in an attempt to change our fortunes. McLean is injured and Klimpl still struggling so switches at the back are unlikely.

Hamilton will be without Mark McLaughlin and Chris Swales but should otherwise have a full team to pick from.

It is time to get the domestic season started and somehow we have to dig our way through this one - 2-1 Motherwell.
