Preview: Dundee United (h)

Where is it?
Not only would it get us back on track but it would increase our advantage over them to six points. With Hibs unlikely to pick up anything against Rangers, the potential is there to have us sitting proudly in third with a big gap.

Alternatively, Dundee United will be desperate to snap out of their short losing run and they will be determined to catch us. In Edinburgh, Hibs have posed Rangers problems recently and should they record another victory we could sink from third to fifth - not a disaster but certainly a blow given our recent highs.

We still have no injury or suspension worries but Mark McGhee might consider a change to freshen things up. The only realistic switch would be giving Phil O'Donnell the chance to rest his legs in the hectic Christmas schedule to bring in Keith Lasley.

Dundee United will play Szamotulski in goal despite the Pole still wanting to leave but on his day he is a superb 'keeper and we will need to be at our best to beat him. Their whole defence has been excellent this season but if Kalvenes isn't fit we will hope to exploit whoever stands in at left back as getting change out of Dods and Wilkie in the centre will prove difficult. Robson and Hunt are the main goal threats but everyone in this United team is competent and we will not be thrown an easy win.

It is time for the players to stand up and be counted once again. This will be a battle but if we remember to play football we can definitely cause some damage. It will be a nervous time but can come out on top with a 2-1 win.
